Cayenne

Clearly thanks to the generous social system of France, Cayenne appeared to be a pretty laid-back city. Almost all of the shops were owned by Chinese. Even a Chinese baker was making fun of it, in French. Someone said to me in Guyana, next door, if you see a lot of pregnant women there, it's because the French pay for each child. The town is clean, colorful, but not one that's humming with activity.

You might think that you have found your way somehow into the French Provence

Just for a moment, then that thought is gone.
